Great Espresso

5 steps to great espresso

Espresso is a concentrated beverage brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee. Espresso is widely known throughout the world. Compared to other coffee brewing methods, espresso often has a thicker consistency, a higher concentration of suspended solids, and crema (foam).

  •

Turn on the machine and let the handle warm up
with the rest of the machine. Once warm take the
filter handle off the machine.

Before you dose the required coffee into your filter
knock out any spent coffee grounds and give the
inside of the filter a wipe with a dry cloth.

Distribute the coffee evenly over the filter before
tamping and then wipe any loose grounds from the
sides of the filter.

Flush some water through the shower to remove any old
grinds prior to inserting the handle - turning it from 8
o'clock to 6 o'clock to secure it.

Start the flow of water immediately and stop the flow
of water when 25-30ml is reached for a single espresso,
50-60ml for a double.

  • If you require a longer drink then you can always add your espresso to hot water for an Americano style, or of course add milk for your lattes and cappuccinos etc. Don’t over extract as this results in a bitter coffee.
