Freshness

The freshness of your coffee is vital especially if you want to capture the vibrant flavours of the very best beans.

  •

Ideally it is best to use coffee in the first month after it
is roasted. This may not always be possible but at least
aim for the first three months after roasting.

The bag your coffee comes in protects it from its
worst enemy, air, so once the bag is open use your
coffee as fast as possible.

To protect the coffee once the bag is open simply
roll down the top of the bag and seal it to trap as
much air out as possible.

Store it in a cool, dark place, but not the fridge
which can cause a number of problems.

  • Never freeze coffee - when roasted, beans release essences and oils that flavour the coffee. The oils are more noticeable in dark-roast coffee. Freezing break these oils down, so removes the flavour.
