Varieties

Choosing coffee is much like choosing wine with numerous varieties and sub-varieties giving different styles. However most coffees available fall into two main varieties, Arabica and Robusta.

  • Arabica

Arabica is often seen as the more premium variety for its cleaner more citrus and sometimes floral flavours. It has half the caffeine levels of the Robusta variety, which is one of the reasons for it's lighter cleaner flavour.

  • Robusta

Robusta has a more earthy round flavour that may be added to a blend to add body and punch.

  • When buying good coffee review the pack as it should tell you the varieties, the countries of origin and sometimes even the farm it was grown on. Take notes so that you remember your preference.
