Esteemed American singer-songwriter Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy is to sell a signature blend of coffee beans over his long term record label Drag City’s website, reports TheCMUWebsite.com.
Just like the boy band Hanson, the artist - rarely referred to via real name Will Oldham - wants to make an impact in the coffee machine world, having rocked the musical one for over 20 years.
On the Drag City website, he describes the ‘Bonny Billy Blend Kona Rose Coffee’ blend - a mouthful as it is - as having “overtones of chocolate, leather and non-wacky tobaccy.”
According to Rolling Stone magazine, Bonnie stumbled about the beans when meeting up with the indigenous Kona people of Hawaii. OralHistory.com reveals that the lives of Kona residents have revolved around coffee production since the the industry arrived in the 1850s.
Bonnie’s blend commands a steep $20 (£12.70) per half pound price tag; although it is 100 per cent organic, and it even comes in a “re-sealable black bag with Wolfroy-pink label that is a seal of approval from the ‘Prince’ himself!”
The coffee is available not only to US customers, but UK customers too; if they’re prepared to pay international shipping costs for the unique brew that is.
The release of the coffee comes at the same time as the musician releases his 16th studio album, ‘Wolfroy Goes To Town’, which coincidently, is said to complement the blend perfectly. Both are available via the Drag City website.
