A new book called ‘Coffee is Good for You’ has been published to debunk food myths, dailymail.co.uk reports.

Whilst caffeine was once seen to be harmful, a brace of scientific tests has claimed that it may not be true after all and that firing up the coffee machine could actually be beneficial.

Now, in light of this, scientists and author Robert J Davis PhD has written ‘Coffee is Good For You’, to give the science behind what foods may actually be harmful and which - contrary to popular belief - may be just fine.

In the book, Davis scythes through food myths and research, marking each one against his “truth scale” in a bid to show which should be believed and which should be taken with a pinch of salt. He rubbishes fad diets and instead outlines scientific fact in the hope of encouraging people to make informed decisions about what they eat or drink.

Princeton.edu reports Davis as saying: “Though food is supposed to be one of life’s simple pleasures, few things cause more angst and confusion.

“It’s no wonder why, we’re constantly being told which foods we should eat to be healthy, which diets we should follow to be skinny, which preparation we should use to be safe, and which chemicals and contaminants in food we should shun to avoid illness. It’s enough to give anyone indigestion.”
