Three cups of coffee a day can help reduce the side-effects of Hepatitis C treatment, according to new research.
A French study of Hepatitis C sufferers found that regular coffee drinkers were 81 per cent less likely to experience discomfort from treatment compared to those who didn’t drink coffee.
It is also thought that regular trips to the cappuccino machine can also boost the chances of the treatment being successful.
Attempting to explain their results, the researchers told aidsmeds.com that caffeine may help to combat common symptoms of treatment; such as a lack of energy, concentration or alertness. They came to their conclusion by asking 100 sufferers of Hepatitis C how much coffee they drank and whether they had experienced any side-effects from their treatment to date.
The likelihood of those questioned mentioning any side-effects decreased by an average of 36 per cent with every cup of coffee they drank.
It is largely agreed that more research is needed on the subject, but nevertheless this could be great news for both medical expert and Hepatitis C sufferers. According to World Coffee News, coffee appears to be both cheaper and more effective than other supplements designed to support treatment.
The group’s findings were recently showcased at the 10th AIDS Impact Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
