Coffee has been labelled the most affordable luxury in the world by an industry expert.
Speaking to The Bellingham Herald, Texas Coffee School founder Tom Vincent described how it does not matter how incredible a cup of coffee is, he has never paid more than $7 (£4.50), giving it a special position for consumers all over the world.
Reflecting on his training centre, he said: “My whole goal is to take elitism out of speciality coffee and make it more easily approachable for everyday people. Coffee is the most affordable luxury in the world. Think about the most you have paid for a glass of wine or a piece of chocolate.”
Mr Vincent spends each day training up baristas and amateur enthusiasts on how to create the best coffee, but he also shared some tips for people making the drink with their at-home coffee machine.
He encouraged people to use coffee that is as fresh as possible and make the drink immediately after the beans have been ground if they can, in order to get the best flavour and aroma.
Gizmodo writer and coffee devotee Kristen Philipkoski echoed the importance of a coffee maker delivering a “delicious” cup, but went further by noting the importance of the beauty of the machine.
She noted how much she enjoys having her morning drink from an “aesthetically pleasing device”.
