The London Coffee Festival has announced it is to return after a resounding success in 2011, worldcoffeenews.com reports.

Taking advantage of a year when both the Olympics and the Queen’s Jubilee hit the capital, the Coffee Festival has announced it is to return between the 27th and 29th April, lining up an array of events aimed at encouraging visitors to fire up their own coffee machine when they head home.

Whilst the full itinerary of events has not yet been announced, organisers have confirmed they will host the semi-finals of the National Barista Challenge, seeing coffee makers from all over the UK descend on the festival to show off their skills. With the final set for the 29th, the winner is also expected be crowned at the event as well.

Elsewhere, Hyde Park is set to host “The Roaster”, where coffee lovers can see beans being roasted. There will also be “The Showroom” filled with all the latest gadgets and gizmos, whilst Shoreditch will focus more on food, with stalls and live cooking for the ‘foodies’ in attendance, londoncoffeefestival.com reports.

The event is still run in association with UK Coffee Week which encourages people to add 5p to their daily coffee to help farmers in Tanzania who grow the beans to get access to running water. The charity, named Project Waterfall, benefited from nearly £40,000 from ticket sales alone at London’s Coffee Festival in 2011.
