When people across the UK fire up their coffee machine in the morning the aim tends to be to wake up and make themselves feel more energetic, but one mother has found another use for the drink.
MailOnline reported that Christie Haskel has taken to feeding her seven-year-old son milky coffees at the same time each day to combat his lack of ability to concentrate.
Where previously the child had been very hyperactive, he has been able to calm down. While doctors have have stressed that coffee is not the answer to real ADHD issues, Ms Haskel has been happy with the results.
“He doesn’t overreact when we ask him to pick up Legos, rather than screaming and throwing himself on the floor. And if we ask him to sit down and do homework, he can actually do it,” she explained.
As well as helping to keep his hyperactivity in check, the youngster has revealed that he likes the taste of coffee.
Writing for The Stir, Ms Haskell stressed that not every child will benefit from having the drink and accepted that there will be sceptics who disagree with her methods.
But she described how she was at her wit’s end and the use of small-milligramme doses of caffeine has worked wonders for her son.
