UK drinking more coffee than ever before

Britons are consuming coffee like they never have before, as according to Independent.co.uk, UK residents drink 511 million cups of the stuff every single week.

In fact, the nation has become “enslaved” to their espresso coffee machines and myriad coffee shops seen in every town, writer John Walsh claimed.

“We all know people who proclaim that they cannot face the world, cannot think straight, cannot recognise elementary shapes, simply cannot operate until they’ve had their first hit…” argued Walsh. “How did we become so enslaved?”

It is the writer’s thinking that Britons aren’t just addicted to the drink itself; in fact, he thinks we are addicted to the entire process of either brewing up a frothy latte at home or heading to our favourite spot to watch the baristas do their thing.

Walsh remarked: “We’re addicted to the whole procedure…the steaming, the percolating, the drip-feed of richness, the warm milky smoothness of the result, the fugitive aromas of vanilla, caramel, honey, nuts and chocolate.”

Also cited by Tradechocolate.com, Walsh also declared that coffee has now taken over the world through its endless possibilities - providing something for even the most amateur drinkers to those devoted connoisseurs. Even those who just fancy a morning cappuccino every now and then have multiple choices at coffee shops or with their home coffee pods.

He concluded by proclaiming: “It’s not enough just to be addicted to it. You have to worship the stuff as well.”
